Furniture Delivery in Cairo and Across Egypt: What to Expect

DE.CI delivers furniture across Egypt, and every product page states its lead time before you order: 5 to 10 working days for DOT recliners, and from about 10 working days to 8 weeks for made-to-order pieces. Everything is designed and manufactured in Cairo, so a piece does not wait on a shipping container to clear a port. That is the short answer. The rest of this guide explains what actually moves that timeline, and what to ask any furniture brand before you commit.

Why Furniture Delivery in Egypt Takes as Long as It Does

Most furniture sold in Egypt falls into one of two paths, and they behave very differently.

Imported stock arrives by sea. When the exact piece you want is already in a local warehouse, that can be fast. When it is not, you are waiting on a production slot abroad, a sailing, and customs clearance. This is where multi-month timelines come from, and why the answer to “when will it arrive” is often vague.

Locally manufactured furniture is built after you order, in a workshop you could in principle drive to. The wait is production time, not transit time. It is more predictable, and if something needs adjusting, the people who made it are in the same city.

DE.CI is the second kind. Our workshop is in Cairo, which is why every piece can carry a stated lead time rather than a hopeful one.

What Actually Changes the Timeline

A delivery estimate is not one number. Four things move it.

Whether the piece is made to order. A standard configuration in a standard fabric moves faster than a custom size or a fabric being ordered in for you.

Upholstery and materials. Fabric and leather availability is the single most common cause of a delay on a sofa. Marble and solid wood tops have their own lead times.

Where you are. Delivery within Greater Cairo is straightforward. Delivery to the North Coast, Upper Egypt or the Red Sea governorates adds transit time, and the further the distance the more it is worth confirming the date before you plan around it.

Access at your end. Stairwells, lift dimensions and doorway widths decide whether a large L-shape sofa can physically reach your living room. Measure this before you order, not on delivery day. Our guide to choosing an L-shape sofa for a small living room covers the measurements worth taking.

What to Ask Before You Order

These five questions separate a real delivery estimate from a sales answer. They apply to any brand, not only ours.

  1. Is this piece in stock, or made to order? The honest answer changes everything that follows.
  2. Is the quoted time from order, or from production start? These can differ by weeks.
  3. Who carries it up, and is that included? Delivery to the building door and delivery into the room are not the same service.
  4. What happens if it does not fit through the door? Ask before, not after.
  5. Where is it serviced if something goes wrong in year three? Locally made furniture is repaired locally. Imported furniture may not be.

That last question is the one most people skip and most regret. A 10-year warranty is only as useful as the workshop that has to honour it, and ours is in the same city as the furniture.

Seeing It Before It Ships

The most reliable way to avoid a delivery disappointment is to sit on the thing first. At our showrooms at O1 Mall in New Cairo and West Mark in El Sheikh Zayed you can sit in the furniture and the DOT smart recliners, and check scale and comfort against your own body rather than against a photograph. Online ordering works perfectly well for pieces you already know, but for a first sofa it is worth the trip.

Common Questions

How long does furniture delivery take in Egypt? For DE.CI, it depends on the piece, and each product page states it: 5 to 10 working days for DOT recliners, and from about 10 working days to 8 weeks for made-to-order furniture. Because it is made in Cairo rather than imported, that time is production, not shipping. Imported furniture can take considerably longer when the piece is not already in local stock.

Does DE.CI deliver outside Cairo? Yes, across Egypt. Greater Cairo is the quickest; the North Coast, Upper Egypt and the Red Sea governorates add transit time.

Can I see the furniture before ordering? Yes. Visit our showrooms at O1 Mall in New Cairo or West Mark in El Sheikh Zayed, where you can sit in the furniture and the DOT recliners before you order.

What happens if the sofa does not fit through my door? Measure the doorway, stairwell and lift before ordering, and raise it with the brand in advance. Modular sofas are usually the answer for difficult access, because they arrive in sections.

Is the furniture serviced locally? DE.CI furniture is made in Cairo and serviced in Cairo. There is no overseas return, which matters far more in year three than in week one.

What warranty comes with it? 10 years on the furniture, and 5 years on the DE.CI Tech electronics in the DOT range.
